One thing I do every day is log onto our Australasian forum found
at www.eas.co.nz. I love the
forum, it provides such a wealth of information and support to all
people starting, thinking, or just completing Body for Life. Here
you see the dreams of people turn into real possibilities, you feel
the changes happenning in peoples lives, and you can also experience
sometimes the pure raw honesty of people who are failing in one
way or another. People who feel that they have really "stuffed
it up" and they log on to get a helping hand. I personally
feel that these people haven't stuffed up at all, they have reconised
a bad habit forming, and they are strong enough to log onto a health
and fitness forum to admit this and to ask, how do I get back on
the ball. To me thats not stuffing up, thats fine tuning the goal.
Its because of real people with real problems who ask for help that
makes this challenge so special that the results at the end often
do shape more than the persons muscles.. This challenge really does
SHAPE peoples lives. So what do you do when that intial Drive you
had at week one turns into Drift by week 5. Ok.. lets break it down
|
A
successful challenge needs several elements: Drive; Regularity; Intensity;
Victorious thinking; and Excellence in all you do. These elements
make up the acronym, D.R.I.V.E.
A challenge that is going nowhere is one in which Drudgery has replaced
Drive, Routine has replaced Regularity; Inconsistency has replaced
intensity; Failing has replaced Victorious thinking; and Tediousness
has replaced Excellence. That forms the acronym D.R.I.F.T.
And
drift describes exactly what has happeneda gradual drift in
attitude, enthusiasm, faithfulness and vision. What was once the
most important thing in life can become just another chore under
these circumstances. What is the solution? Take two weeks off between
challenges. Or, shake up your entire routine, including the days
you work out, the exercises you do, the machines or equipment you
use, the diet you eat, and the exercise routine you follow. Take
a moment out in every day to do something for someone else without
getting caught. Nothing jump starts enthusiasm like helping others
for the right, selfless reason.
Like most unpleasant matters, this too will pass, and you will soon
be back on the right track and on your goal DRIVEN path again. One
thing I personally always remember is, "I will focus on my
reasons for doing this challenge, not on reasons to give up the
competition" Have faith in yourself, visualise your goal and
go full steam ahead, in the right direction. (Go for it Rebecca

not your fears but your hopes and your dreams
Think
not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential.

Talking about champions, If Brad is just one of my male inspirational
champions, then PAM BROWN has to be the most admirable female champions
of all time. Wow, talk about having faith in one's self and VISION.
Pam's
story is one of setting and achieving goals that even she thought were
unattainable. A lifelong struggle with diet and weight found Pam weighing
244 pounds at 49% bodyfat in January 2000. Eighteen months later, she
was onstage at her first bodybuilding competition weighing 144 pounds
at 5% bodyfat. She has placed in the top five of the women's heavyweight
division of the NPC Team Universe national bodybuilding championship for
two years running, and she is an inspirational champion and part of the
EAS team. Pams website is at www.customizedphysiques.com.
and she has some great training journals and calendars to keep you motivated
and on track every day of the year. Pam and her crew of dedicated Personal
trainers conduct Pam Camps regulary so if you are living near the Colorado
Springs area I suggest you contact Pam and find out when the next fitness
camp is on.
