Dear Friends,

In our last newsletter I wrote about how summer is nearly upon us. Well as I write this, the sun is blistering and the temperature is rising, if you haven’t already started to improve or DELETE some of those nasty winter habits, here are some very SIMPLE foolproof ways of shifting FAT fast.

SIMPLE TIPS TO MAXIMISE FAT LOSS

Fat loss only occurs with a combination of sensible eating (not dieting) and moderate exercise.
Eat 5-6 small meals, regularly spaced throughout the day

Always eat breakfast, even if you can’t eat much

Increase your aerobic exercise by walking, jogging, swimming, riding a bike, going on a treadmill, cross-trainer, rower, stepper - anything that gets your heart rate elevated for over 30 minutes at least 3 times per week

The best time for aerobic exercise and fat loss is soon after waking (if you feel that you must eat, eat some fruit)

A brisk walk (no less than 30 minutes) is an ideal early morning exercise for fat loss

Include resistance training of your major muscle groups at least twice weekly

After exercising, delay eating for at least 1 to 1½ hours

Drink plenty of water throughout the day (1.5-2 L per day)

Avoid animal fats (i.e., trim fat from red meat, remove chicken skin, no butter and minimal chocolate/soft drink)

Have one free day a week where you are not too strict with what you eat

Don’t eat a lot of carbohydrates (i.e. pasta, rice, potatoes, bread etc) at night before sleep

Eat your last meal of the day at least 2 hours before sleep

Now, I don’t know about you, but I must admit even I got a shock when going through last years summer wardrobe to find that more than one pair of pants were a little tight. If you haven’t already started a health and fitness program then let’s start one together. I’m running a great special this month, so read on, and let’s hear from you soon and lets see you achieve your dreams. YOU can make the changes, YOU can achieve that great body, or health result YOU WANT

This recipe serves: 4
Preparation time : 15 minutes
Cooking time : 20 minutes

Ingredients
4 teaspoons olive oil
1 small tart apple, peeled, cored and diced
1/2 cup diced onion
1/2 cup diced celery
1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast

1/2 cup cider vinegar
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
1/2 cup apple cider

Cooking Instructions

Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the apple, onion and celery and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Add 1/4 cup of the chicken broth, thyme, salt and pepper and cook until the liquid is absorbed, about 5 minutes. Set aside to cool.

Cut a deep horizontal pocket in the side of each chicken breast. Make the pocket as large as you can without piercing through the top or the bottom of the breast. Stuff 1/4 of the apple mixture into each pocket. Close the pocket with toothpicks, threading along the side.
Heat the remaining oil in a large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the chicken to the skillet and brown both sides of each chicken breast. Add the cider vinegar and cook until the liquid has almost completely evaporated. Add the chicken broth and apple cider and simmer until the chicken is cooked through, about 5 minutes more.
Transfer the chicken to a platter and keep warm. Continue to simmer the liquid until it has reduced to a syrupy consistency.
Remove the toothpicks from the chicken, drizzle the reduced cider mixture over the chicken and serve.

SERVE with a yummy green garden salad, and go for organic chicken if possible.
